About Us

 Our Beliefs

Our faith is in our Lord Jesus Christ, who has saved us from our sins. We believe Jesus was crucified, died, and was buried, but then was raised on the third day. Because of Christ’s resurrection, we now have a hope and future and our lives are lived in such as way as to reflect His life and to bring God glory.

Here at Kennewick Nazarene, we believe strongly that the church is to be a Community of Believers united in love. We know we are all flawed and imperfect, but together we strive to grow closer to God, and to grow in our faith and obedience to our Father. We believe that we need each other. We are here to walk the journey of our faith together, truly being the hands and feet of Christ as we celebrate with our brothers and sisters in their victories, and cry when our brothers and sisters mourn.

We believe in living a life of Holiness (being in right relationship with God through a life of purity and in right relationship with each other through a life of love). We believe that God's call on our lives is to reflect His love to a broken world, loving others as we ourselves are loved by Christ. Christ came for the sick and needy, and in turn, he has called us to minister to the needs of our brother. We believe that we come to understand Christ’s love for us more deeply, as we express His love to those around us.

About the Nazarene Church

The Church of the Nazarene is a Protestant Christian church in the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, tracing its roots to an anniversary date of 1908. It was founded to spread the message of scriptural holiness (Christlike living) across the lands. Today the Church of the Nazarene is home to more than 1.8 million members worshiping in almost 23,000 local congregations in 155 world areas.

The Church of the Nazarene is a Great Commission church. We believe that God offers to everyone forgiveness, peace, joy, purpose, love, meaning in life, and the promise of eternal life in His presence when life is over by entering and experiencing a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. We are called to take this message to people everywhere.

The Church of the Nazarene is also a holiness church. We believe that Christians can experience a deeper level of life in which there is victory over our desire to sin, power to witness and serve, and a richer fellowship with God, all through the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Nazarene Core Beliefs

 Agreed Statement of Belief

These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true:

We believe in one God-the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that the Bible is God's Holy Word.  The Old and New Testament Scriptures were written by individuals who were divinely inspired by God.  We believe the Scriptures are authoritative and contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.

We believe that man is born broken and without relationship with God, and is, therefore, inclined towards continued brokenness and sin.

We believe that those who choose to remain in brokenness and sin and do not seek relationship with God will be eternally separated from Him.

We believe that Jesus Christ came to this earth to seek relationship with each of us and took our sin upon himself through his sacrifice on the cross. We believe that those who acknowledge their brokenness and repent and turn from their sin, are forgiven, transformed and made whole.

We believe that not only are we saved from our sins, but that through God's grace and transforming power, we are called to be holy. We believe that Christ can set us apart from the world, break the cycle of sin and brokenness in our lives, and transform us into His image to make us more like Him.

We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to our salvation and our changed lives.

We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
