Children's Church-
Discovering "The Big God Story"
We want to help kids build a life-long relationship with God. This means we want to help give them a strong foundation in biblical knowledge while being intentional about creating space for kids to encounter the living God. Through our children's church lessons, we introduce our children to "The Big God Story." We define "The Big God Story" as God's ENTIRE story. It incorporates all of history, stretching from Genesis to Revelation and beyond.
Through the TRUstory curriculum, we strive to teach our kids "The Big God Story". Our desire is to show them how God has woven His redemptive plan throughout time and we want kids to understand that they not only play a part in this incredible story, but they are also part of a much larger faith community of past, present and future believers. We challenge them to serve others, going beyond their comfort zone to see how God desires to use them in their world. Our desire is that they encounter the living God, witness him being modeled by others and then become challenged to begin to reflect Christ in their own lives.
At Kennewick Nazarene, we also understand that spiritual development can and should begin from the earliest age with parents are the primary nurturers of their children's faith. Because of this firm belief that parents play the primary role in spiritual formation, we also provide families with tools and materials to help them further connect as a family and grow spiritually. Each week, your child will be given a HomeFront Weekly page that provides for opportunities for families to be in God's Word together. These pages help the parents to be the first ones to introduce their child to the story from Scripture that we will be teaching in Children's church the next week. In addition, we will also have HomeFront Monthly newsletters to provide opportunities for families to come together and experience storytelling, God's Word, new family traditions, fun games, recipes, family blessings prayers and more. These resources will also be available for download on the Children's Ministry Page. There is also a mobile app for parents available FREE in the app store or Android Market!
Twice a quarter, we do have family worship time where our children join us in the sanctuary for Praise and Worship. This allows our children to still be connected to the life of the church as well as providing them opportunities to participate in elements of worship like communion and family altar time.
Your children's spiritual development matters! And, if we are going to be a faithful, growing church, we must foster discipleship and spiritual growth in this new generation.
